Airplane Alley: Accuracy vs Precision

We sponsored a STEM fair for our host school- Centreville Elementary School.
Students designed their airplanes and tried to hit the target. We measured how close they were to the bulls eye using the radius and recorded the distance in a STEM and LEAF plot.  The data showed students how accurate they were to the target.

This was a great math happening for us to connect and differentiate between accuracy and precision

Accuracy-Accuracy is how close a measured value is to the actual (true) value.

Precision- Precision is how close the measured values are to each other.
